Did We Live? Did We Make a Difference?

It’s been a fun busy week this week working on new potential clients, following up existing clients and preparing for a busy week coming up. On Tuesday I am off to Plymouth and Tunbridge Wells to run Masterclasses on behalf of Live and Learn Consultancy.

At the end of the week Julie is joining me and we are staying with my brother Richard and his wife Adele in London. They have booked a show for us to watch in the West End which we are very excited about and we will be eating out and having fun together.

Work Life Balance

Work life balance is key to living a happy life – and rest and recovery is critical if you want to stay healthy. About 35 years ago I used to work 18 hours a day and I took no holidays as a badge of honour. I thought that working all the time and showing how tough I was would impress people and deliver success.

I did succeed for a while then I burned out. My body and mind couldn’t keep up with the ‘workaholism’ and it took me a long time to recover. I learned from this and now I take my holidays, I don’t work all day and night and I have rest days.

I feel great!

Because of this I am full of energy and at the age of 64 I feel as if I am in my 40’s. I have learned that a balance of work, rest, healthy eating, good sleep and exercise is very important. If you take time to ‘Sharpen the Saw’ you will cut down more trees.

So, take a step back and look at the way you are living. Is the balance right for you? Do you give yourself time to rest and recover? Do you take your holidays, and do you have rest days? Life is a Marathon not a sprint and if you want to finish the Marathon you need to pace yourself.

An inspirational man

I came across this article about an inspirational man who had a life changing moment which changed him and he is now helping millions across the world.

Brendon Buchard

If you’re not following Brendon you’re missing out. Just watching him will give you new doses of energy. In the past 2 years he turned his 10 thousand Facebook group into 3 million+ members.

He’s written 3 New York Times best-selling books and Larry King calls him one of the worlds’ top trainers. He started from scratch after surviving a horrible car crash.

He nearly died

As he saw the end near, he realized we’d all be asked 3 questions at the end of our lives. Did we live? Did we love fully? And did we make a difference, did we matter?

With those 3 questions he left his corporate job and claimed a path to become a speaker, author, coach and trainer to inspire others with his message to live, love and matter.

Brendon deeply struggled when he first started out. In his words, “When I first started out, I did what most authors did – I went broke.” But his mission to inspire drove him to become the legend that he is.

He now runs a multiple 8 figure business that inspires tens of millions of people on a weekly basis.

Thoughts for the week:

1. How is your work life balance?
2. Do you give yourself at least one complete day off each week?
3. Do you take holidays? Are you eating healthily? Do you sleep well?
4. How do you feel for your age?
5. Remember life is a Marathon not a Sprint so pace yourself.

Well that’s it for this week have a lovely weekend and stay positive.

Warm regards

John
